Importing documents using the Import button
Open the folder you want to upload to and click the Import button at the top of the document list.
In the upload window, select the destination subfolder.
Choose whether to upload each file as a single document or have Datamolino automatically split a multi-invoice PDF into separate documents.
Drag and drop your files into the box, or browse to select them from your device.
Choose the destination subfolder
The upload window asks where the documents should be placed. Each option matches a subfolder inside the current folder and decides what document type the upload will be processed as.
Purchases - bills and receipts you receive from suppliers. This is the default destination for most folders.
Sales - sales invoices you issued to customers.
Bank statements - bank statement PDFs for transaction extraction.
Files - documents you want to store but not process (for example, contracts or supporting paperwork).
👉 Can I switch the destination after uploading?
Not from the upload window, but you can move documents after the upload. You can move documents between Purchases and Sales, and from either into Files. However, you cannot move documents out of Files, and Bank Statements cannot be moved to or from any other subfolder.
👉 How do I move a document between subfolders?
Open the document and click the three-line menu in the top right. From there you can select Convert to Sales (or Purchases) and Move to Files.
Uploading multi-page or multi-invoice PDFs
You can upload a PDF that contains several invoices in one file. Datamolino will automatically split it into separate documents during processing, so you do not need to do anything after the upload. The recommended maximum is 50 invoices in a single PDF. For the split to work correctly:
All pages must be in the correct order.
No pages can be missing from multi-page invoices.
Each invoice must follow the previous one without unrelated pages in between.
Most folders are set to Single invoice by default, meaning each uploaded file is treated as one document. To split a multi-invoice PDF, switch to Auto in the upload window before dragging and dropping your files.
If you are importing via email, add @split to the subject line of the email instead.

👉 Can I mix single-page and multi-page invoices in the same PDF?
Yes. Datamolino will treat each invoice as its own document during the split, regardless of how many pages it spans, as long as the pages are in order.
What happens after the upload completes
When all files finish uploading, Datamolino starts processing them in the background. You do not need to stay on the upload window - close it and the documents will appear in the folder's Ready Tab once processing is complete.
