If you no longer have access to your authenticator app, you may still be able to log in using one of the recovery methods below. Try the options in this order.
Option 1: Sign in with Xero or Intuit (SSO)
If your Datamolino account is linked to a Xero or Intuit account, you can log in using those credentials instead. SSO login bypasses the 2FA step entirely, so you do not need your authenticator app.
On the Datamolino login page, click Sign in with Xero or Sign in with Intuit.
👉 I used SSO to log in - what happens next?
Once signed in via SSO, you can go to User profile → Security to disable your existing 2FA and re-enable it with a new authenticator app. Learn more here [LINK-TODO: Disable two-factor authentication (2FA)]
Note: if you use the SSO login route, Datamolino may switch your account to SSO-only login. If you want to return to email and password login, contact support@datamolino.com.
Option 2: Receive a one-off code by email
If email backup 2FA is enabled on your account, you can request a 6-digit code sent to your email address instead of using the authenticator app.
On the 2FA verification screen during login, click Send code to email. Check your inbox - the code arrives within seconds. Enter it to complete login.
👉 How long does the email code last?
The code:
expires after 5 minutes
can only be used once
can only be requested once every 5 minutes
If you need to request another code, you may need to wait before trying again.
👉 I don't see the "Send code to email" option
This option only appears if email backup 2FA is enabled on your account. If you never enabled it, or if it was disabled, this path is not available. Move to the next option.
Option 3: Use a backup code
When you first set up 2FA, Datamolino gave you three 16-character backup codes. If you saved them, you can use one in place of the 6-digit authenticator code to log in.
On the 2FA verification screen, enter one of your backup codes where you would normally enter the 6-digit code. Each backup code can only be used once - used codes are permanently consumed.
👉 What should I do after using a backup code to log in?
Once you are logged in, go to User profile → Security. You can disable your existing 2FA (using a second backup code) and then re-enable it with your new authenticator app. Learn how in Enable two-factor authentication (2FA).
👉 Can I use the same backup code twice?
You started with three backup codes. Each use permanently removes one. If you have used all three, this option is no longer available.
Option 4: Contact support for an authenticator reset
If none of the options above are available to you - no SSO link, no email backup 2FA, and no remaining backup codes - contact the Datamolino support team. They can reset your authenticator so you can set up 2FA again from scratch.
