Repair - how to report a data capture error

Where to report a data capture error, what counts as one, and what happens to your document and future ones from that supplier.

Written by Tina

If Datamolino has captured something wrong from a document, reporting it helps us fix how that supplier's documents are read, so the same mistake doesn't keep happening on future invoices.

Where to report a data capture error

šŸ‘‰ Where do I report a data capture error?

You report it from the document itself.

  1. Open the document.

  2. Click the list icon (☰) at the top of the document.

  3. Select Repair from the menu.

  4. In the window that opens, choose Report data capture errors.

  5. Describe what's wrong in the text box - this is required.

  6. Click Proceed.

The same Repair window also offers options for splitting a document into individual documents. Use that instead if there's nothing wrong with the data capture itself, but you want Datamolino to split a PDF containing several invoices.

What counts as a data capture error

šŸ‘‰ What should I report as a data capture error?

Report it when a value Datamolino captured doesn't match what's actually on the document - for example, the wrong supplier, an incorrect invoice number, or a field that's missing or mapped to the wrong place.

What happens after you report it

šŸ‘‰ What happens to my document once I report it?

The document is not locked. You can still edit it and export it as normal, so if the error is something you can correct yourself, you don't need to wait for anything before continuing.

šŸ‘‰ Will the document I reported be corrected for me?

It depends on whether the document has been exported yet. If it's still in Ready status and hasn't been exported, we'll correct that document as part of the repair. Once it's been exported, we correct how we read documents from that supplier going forward instead, so future documents capture correctly where possible - the exported document itself stays as it is. We review reports on a regular basis.

Getting a repair prioritised

šŸ‘‰ What if I need this fixed sooner?

If the issue is urgent, complex, or would take a lot of manual work to keep correcting, contact support@datamolino.com or reach out via chat and we'll prioritise the repair for you.
