Delete, archive, or unarchive a folder

What each option does, how to use them, and what you can recover if you change your mind.

Who can archive or delete a folder

Only folder admins can archive or delete folders. Other users won’t see archive or delete options in the UI. If you think you should have access but can’t see these options, check your role with a folder admin.

Archive and unarchive a folder

Archiving removes a folder from your active My Folders list without deleting it or its documents. It's useful when a folder is no longer active but you want to keep the history - for example, a completed project or a former client.

👉 How do I archive a folder?

Open the folder menu, go to Preferences, scroll down, and select Archive Folder. Confirm the action in the pop-up window.

👉 What happens to documents emailed to an archived folder?

They are queued but processing is suspended while the folder is archived. Once the folder is unarchived, processing resumes automatically.

👉 Where do archived folders go?

Archived folders are removed from everyone’s active folder list. Folder admins can still access them from the Archived Folders view at the bottom of the dashboard.

👉 How do I unarchive a folder?

Go to Archived Folders view at the bottom of the dashboard, find the folder, and click Unarchive. It will immediately return to your active folder list.

👉 What if my account is suspended?

You can still unarchive the folder, but uploads will remain suspended until your account is active again.

👉 I can't see the Archived Folders tab

There are a couple of possible reasons why you can't see the Archived Folders tab:

1. You don’t have admin permissions for folders
Only folder admins can access the Archived Folders view.

2. There are no archived folders in your account
The view only appears when at least one folder has been archived. If there are no archived folders, the tab is hidden.

Delete and undelete a folder

Once a folder is deleted, it moves to the Deleted Folders view and is scheduled for permanent removal after 45 days. After that, it cannot be recovered. Use archiving if you want to keep the history. Only delete a folder if you are certain the data is no longer needed.

👉 How do I delete a folder?

Open the folder menu, go to Preferences, scroll down and click Delete Folder. Confirm the action, then confirm again in the pop-up window.

👉 Where do deleted folders go?

Deleted folders are removed from everyone’s active folder list. Folder admins can still access them from the Deleted Folders view at the bottom of the dashboard.

👉 Can I undo a deletion?

Yes - within 45 days. Go to Deleted Folders, select the folder, and click Undelete.

The folder and all its documents return to your active folder list.

👉 What happens after 45 days?

The folder and all its data are permanently deleted. This process is automatic and cannot be reversed.

👉 What if my account is suspended?

The folder is restored successfully, but document uploads remain suspended until the account is active again.

👉 I can't see the Deleted Folders view

There are a couple of possible reasons why you can't see the Deleted Folders tab:
