This error can occur when the connection between Xero and Datamolino expires.

How to fix "Forbidden access. If the issue persists please reconnect your folder to Xero" error?

If you receive the error "Forbidden access. If the issue persists please reconnect your folder to Xero" simply disconnect your folder from Xero and connect it again:

  1. Disconnect your folder by clicking on Disconnect Xero.

Note: If you use approvals, you will find this option in the Approved documents tab

  2. In the same dropdown, click on Connect to your accounting and connect your Xero company.

3. Once you complete the above steps, please click on Dismiss in the error message of the document, and if necessary export again.

Has the Forbidden access error affected multiple documents?

You can dismiss the error in bulk by following the steps below:

  1. Navigate to the Export errors tab

  2. Select all or some documents by ticking the box(es)

  3. Click on Dismiss errors / duplicates

Forbidden access error persists after following all the steps above?

If the forbidden access error persists after Disconnecting, Connecting to Xero again, Dismissing the error and re-exporting, the root cause could be in your access rights in Xero. This is usually related to the Approval status of the document:

  1. Please change the Approval status of one impacted document to Draft and then export it.

  2. If the document was successfully exported to Xero, ask your Xero administrator to review your user access and permissions in Xero.

The rule of the thumb for setting up Xero user access and permissions:

If you wish to be able to export documents with Awaiting approval or Awaiting payment status from Datamolino, you should be able to move the documents into that status also in Xero.

  • Awaiting approval - Are you able to Submit documents for approval in Xero?

  • Awaiting payment - Are you able to approve documents in Xero?
