How does the authenticator app work?

What is the authenticator app?

The authenticator app:

  • Generates unique codes without directly connecting to your Datamolino account

  • Does not transfer any data between the systems

  • Operates independently

  • Does not rely on a network connection or mobile signal.

Both the authenticator app and Datamolino generate codes using the same secret key that is unique to you. The codes are time-based, so ensure that the time on your authenticator device is in sync with Datamolino. Let your network provider set the time automatically on your device to prevent getting an invalid code error.

How to use the authenticator app?

  1. Download and install an authenticator app on your mobile phone or desktop. Datamolino recommends any of the following apps:

    • Google Authenticator (Android, iOS),

    • Twilio Authy (Android, iOS, desktop version), or

    • Microsoft Authenticator (Android, iOS).

  2. To add Datamolino account to your authenticator app, select "Add account" or the "+" sign

  3. Scan QR code generated in Datamolino.
