You can manage how strict your approval process is by changing the 'Lock editing during approval' setting.
If 'Lock editing during approval' is enabled, documents submitted for approval will be blocked from editing.
If 'Lock editing during approval' is disabled, document submitted for approval can be edited at any time.
Difference in approval workflow:

To change the 'Lock editing during approval' setting, take the following steps:
Go to 'Folder Menu' -> 'Accounting & Automation' 👇
Then go to 'Approval' -> 'Lock editing during approval', click to 'Disable' and then 'Save'.
